Apple Dutch Baby

A nice way to make and serve something in the same pan and looks great on the table

  • cast iron pan


  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 2-3 apples such as granny smith, gala, honeycrisp peeled and sliced thin
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 eggs


  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon


  • preheat oven to 400°F
  • place butter into a 12" cast iron pan and place it into the oven to melt the butter and heat up the pan.
  • in a bowl or blender, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, milk and eggs.
  • place the sliced apples into the bottom of the pan. Pour egg mixture over the melted butter and apples.
  • Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over the top of the egg mixture.
  • bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
