We got back from Barbados late last night! Needless to say I did not do a lot of cooking last week so I thought I would share some of the fabulous food we had. We did eat in a couple of nights, I made one pot pasta. On our last night My sister-in-law made up a delicious frittata along with roasted beets and a zucchini casserole. We had a lot of things we needed to use up some of the groceries we bought for our VRBO condo.

We usually had a late breakfast in our place, lunch either happened out or not at all; dinner was a little more planned out. This was my third time to the beautiful island of Barbados. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon in 1988; wow that was a long time ago and so many things have changed. Back then we did not rent a car, we did not seek out the nicest restaurants and we relied on hotel planned outings. We took the kids back in 2007 and rented a car, sought out the best food we could find and planned our own excursions. This trip we went with my husbands brother and soon to be wife; their first time on the island. We rented a car, made reservations and drove all over the island.
On day one, the weather wasn’t going to be that great so we decided to take a ride around the island. We were not prepared for most things to be closed, Easter on the island is a big deal and they had Good Friday off as well as Easter Sunday AND Easter Monday. We luckily found a little place on the water that was open in Speightstown called The Orange Street Grocer. We were not expecting meeting the sharp witted owner, having such a nice meal and a little local history. We thought we were going to grab a pastry and coffee/tea. My BLT on a baguette was amazing. I craved the baguette all week. we all really wanted to go back for their wood fired pizza, but regretfully we never made it. Sorry no pictures of this meal.
Here are some notable meals I would like to share with you. We rented a place on the South end of the island so that is where all of these restaurants are located.
