Happy Easter!

Kind of a dreary day around here in NH and looks nothing like this lovely picture of tulips that I wish I knew how to grow!
I just hid a bunch of eggs around the house for my 3 year old granddaughter and I can’t wait for her to arrive and run around the house looking for them. While I was hiding them, my husband asked a good question. How did hiding eggs become a thing to do for Easter. My question is what did we do before Google? Yes I googled his question and below is the their response.
German Origins: The practice is tied to the German folklore of Oschter Haws (Easter Hare), who laid colored eggs in gardens for children to find.
16th–17th Century: While earlier origins are debated, historical references strongly point to this period in Germany, which was later brought to America by Pennsylvania Dutch settlers in the 18th century.
I haven’t used real eggs in a very long time. For no other reason than they were messy, smelly and I could never use them for anything after the kids were done “playing” with them.
My husband is in the kitchen making breakfast for everyone, I am in my office writing this and then when he is out of the way I am going to make cupcakes. Pumpkin Spiced Muffins. I was contemplating making the carrot cake Happy Easter – Carrot Cake – Cream Cheese Frosting that I pretty much only make this time of year but I wanted a cupcake.
The family comes over for breakfast, then goes on their merry little way and comes back for a late lunch early dinner. So when everyone leaves I will be making a Ham with Scalloped Potatoes carrots and asparagus.
I hope you get to spend your day however it fills up your cup!
It’s dreary in Virginia too. Have a great Easter with family. See you soon.
Hope you had a lovely day with the fam. Can’t wait to see you.
