Are you ready? Have you started? Do you at least have a plan?
My daughter will be making this lovely salad – here is a link to the recipe.

I am going to make this soup again this year – I like to serve a soup to begin the meal and when that is done, I slice the bird and mash the veggies. It breaks things up a bit.

I am not sure if I am going to Spatchcock my bird, cook it whole or fry it?I think I need to take pictures of my bird this year – I have shared these ones too many times already – but they were delicious!
The Holidays are here and the next month and a half will probably be a little bit of a whirlwind. To share with you my answers to the above questions in order is. Short answer is no, long answer is It doesn’t really matter if I am ready they happen one way or another. I have sort of started with at least Thanksgiving and my Anniversary; oh ya we also have 2 birthdays coming up as well as our 33rd wedding anniversary just to throw that in there for good measure. I have a plan to make a plan does that help? probably not; wish me luck!
- 1 bag fresh cranberries
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup orange juice a little zest if you using an orange adds even more flavor
- 1 cup cold water
- add all ingredients to a medium sauce pan. Bring to a rapid boil, the berries will start to pop in about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool.
So I didn’t make anything different this last week to share with you so I thought I would share a few recipes that I will be making this next week for Thanksgiving. I went shopping Friday afternoon and I did just fry up the sausage for my stuffing and I will be slicing up and toasting my Ciabatta bread for the same when I am finished writing here. So that’s a start.
My daughter came home from work and made the statement “mom you better get the turkey or we won’t be having one, and we’ll probably end up having to make a Capon Chicken for everyone” She can be a little dramatic at times. Though I will admit I was not able to get my usual two 9-10 pound birds, I had to settle for a 12.5 pounder. I haven’t figured out how I want to cook it yet but there is still time.
Yesterday I took out or googled myself for my recipes to make sure I had everything on hand. There is nothing worse than waking up Thursday morning and having to run out for something you forgot. So if nothing else take a look around today and make a plan. I know going to a store today would probably not be your best bet but getting to a store first thing or just before closing isn’t too bad. Don’t forget about what you will also need for the leftovers.
I want to make the leftover egg rolls – I am going to run out for egg roll wrappers today!
Happy Thanksgiving – stay safe and healthy!
